Abstract
Diazepam(Valium), benzodiazepine derivative, was administered to 30 cases of minor surgical patients(D and C) for intravenous anesthesia without giving other additional anesthetics.
Recently, Diazepam start to be used as premedicant, intravenous induction , agent, and postoperative sedatives. We are studied of diazepam whether it. could be used alone as intravenous anesthetic for simple surgical procedure.
The results are as follows:
1) Induction was smooth without any complication
2) Individually, amount of dosage was quite different.
Relatively, large dosage was necessary for anesthetic maintenance. (It cost expansive),
It could be necessary other additional anesthetics.
3) Minimum effect on circulation was observed.
4) Moderate respiratory depression was observed in most patient, especially high dose cases.
5) Recovery course was smooth and very peaceful.
